Truly Coquetteful!

Lucky moi... myself and my good friend Kate attended the marvelous Coquette at Kettners last Saturday... read all about our exploits on the day at the What Katie did Blog or below:

On the most glorious Saturday afternoon Myself (Zara: part-time WKD office assistant and fashion blogger) and Kate (Operations manager at WKD HQ), hot-footed it down to the rather fabulous Kettner’s in Soho for the very first Coquette. Based on the successful ‘Tart at 40 Winks’ we were all overjoyed to hear that the exquisitely dapper Mister Carter was expanding his afternoon of vintage treats to a larger yet just as suitably glamorous settings of the infamous Kettner’s of Soho.
With the ’Dressiquette’ of simply looking ‘drop dead gorgeous’ we made sure we had our best glad rags on, matched with our vintage accessories and of course with our perfect underpinning of WKD Lingerie we did indeed feel every-inch glamorous.
Our map of delights

Greeted by the charming doorman we were handed our map, so we were able to strategically plan out route yet it was safe to say on first pit stop was indeed the room of indulgence and intoxication where we sipped on our teacups of refreshing apple, cumber, and elderflower with a dash- of- gin cocktails. Supplied with a faithful tip from David Carter to not miss out on the room of scientific wonders and pampering where the world famous American skincare company, Murad was based. The ever so lucky Kate was able to indulge in a deluxe facial treatment, where her skin was completely refreshed and prepped ready for the Make-girls downstairs to work their magic on us.

Heading down the twirling staircase we arrived at the mystical room of fortune tellers, while Kate had her palm inspected for the answers of when she should next indulge in her next spree of WKD Lingerie, one maybe no –one would be able to predict... the answer being of course, a girl could never have enough! I was delighted to have such positive cards laid out before me by the mystic megs.... The future holds some marvellous things!

After spending some time being ‘silly’ and ‘frivolous’ in the dressing up area, curated by lovely Hazel Holtham from trendy vintage specialist, ‘Rag & Bow, trying on the most outrageous to the most sublime of vintage gowns we then popped by the beauty parlour to fully complete our head to toe looks. Our Make-up expertly applied by Benefit’s head make-up artist Lisa Potter Dixon and with our vintage red lips good to go, the lipstick & curls ladies (who will be in the What Katie Did Boutique on Sunday May 1 from 1-5pm), added the finishing touch styling our hair a- la- Mad Men... Kate looked very Joan Holloway if I do say so myself.

Phew, What an afternoon and if that was not enough... with our hair neatly rolled and primed we decided to put our new looks to the test with a materclass in the Charleston swing with special guest Nigel Anderson who spun us round the dance-floor and made sure even two left feet could still look effortless sophisticated and it was indeed a fruitful laugh, even if it was at each-other.

You could not miss Nigel in his electric blue suit.

Late afternoon we relaxed with the other beautiful Coquette ladies on the stretched sofas in the room of knowledge and enlightenment and were treated to a noteworthy education in two delightful classes, one on ‘The Art of Kissing’ by Lana Citron, we dare spill the secrets and a beauty master-class with Benefit top make-up artist, solving all our problematic make-up dilemmas.

Wow what an amazing afternoon of self indulgence, seductive style and decadent pampering... best of all we were able to take charming coquette gift bags home for yet more pampering and dressing-up in our WKD sheer gloves, it was a vintage lovers heaven.
